This May and June, a small number of us will gather at Stu and Emma’s for intentional conversation around what it looks like to follow the Christ life in the Christ way. Using Eugene Peterson’s ‘Run With The Horses’ and the story of Jeremiah as a guide, we will explore what it means to be human and fully alive.

This book club will be different from a conventional bible study and will be more than simply a reading group that critiques Peterson’s writing. Together, we will chat about identity, formation, idolatry, comparison, attention and seek to explore how we can live with an increasing fidelity to Christ in the thick of our everyday lives.

We will gather on the following Thursday evenings: May 4th, May 25th, June 8th, June 15th, and June 29th.

The Compass: Book Club is now full. For those who have signed up, Stu will be in touch with you in early April with further details.

This book club will require two commitments from those involved:
– Reading ‘Run With The Horses’ in the two months of May and June.
– A willingness to engage in honest, vulnerable conversation that roots our reading in our actual lives.

This group is for those who long to live life well with a passionate and purposeful pursuit of Jesus. If you carry a longing to bear fruit in a frantic age, this book club will hopefully stir that desire for the Godward life a little more. Yet if you have become restless with your faith in recent years through doubts, disappointments and disillusionments, whether that’s because of being rocked by the pandemic or simply the strains of life, you would be most welcome to join us in our conversation.
