DESCRIPTION:Welcome to a chat about the growing community interested in providing homes for individuals and families seeking refuge here in Northern Ireland.\nTo offer your own home/room\, you will need to register yourself with the government initiative.  LVV cannot do this for you.  \nWhen you have registered yourself with the government initiative you will receive a response from any number of agencies linking you in. Follow their guidance. We understand that the two agencies currently leading in vetting homes are EXTERN and Barnardos\, so they may be in touch! However\, there are several agencies in this initiative and we aren’t able to see the whole picture. \nSTARFISH\nStarfish is the one organisation that has contacted LVV to date\, and they have already begun matching. You can read more here and can contact Starfish yourself.\n \nStarfish are seeking to group your registration via postcode with others in the same area and are encouraging hubs in postcode areas. That’s where churches seem to come in. Starfish are encouraging churches and community groups to act as hubs in order to foster support and contact among Ukrainian refugees moving here. \nChurches as hubs? \nTalking together means we can share. Sharing often leads to solutions. From this peer collective of registered homes\, we hope to see new creative ways to help emerge. For example\, already people are talking of renting a house with a group from LVV and sponsoring the rent together. SUMMARY:Fundraiser for Syria | Have lunch with us!
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, May 22nd after our 11:30AM service\, stay for a delicious lunch of soup and sweet treats to raise funds for Syria. This event will be hosted by our dear friend Youseff\, with special Syrian guests and YALLAH.\nAll proceeds from this event will go to supporting Syrian Refugees both here in Northern Ireland and in refugee camps via a chosen aid agency. \n \nYouseff is part of our church family. Himself a Syrian refugee\, Youseff has asked us to not forget about Syrians who are still experiencing hardship during this time of global crisis. It’s hard to believe it was 2011 when war broke out in Syria. Eleven years of war have inflicted immense suffering on the Syrian people. More than half of Syria’s pre-war population of 22 million have fled their homes for refuge. Some 6.9 million are internally displaced\, with more than two million living in tented camps that have limited access to basic services. Another 6.8 million are refugees or asylum-seekers abroad. \n \nAs of February 2022\, 14.6 million people inside Syria were in need of some form of humanitarian assistance\, according to the UN\, including about 5 million classified as being in extreme or catastrophic need. More than 12 million people are struggling to find enough food each day – a 51% increase since 2019 – and half a million children are chronically malnourished.\n \nIn the past two years\, the humanitarian crisis has been compounded by an unprecedented economic downturn which caused prices of basic goods in Syria to skyrocket. The poverty rate has reached an unprecedented 90%. Syria has also been one of the countries in the Middle East hit hardest by COVID-19. Despite their protected status\, 599 attacks on at least 350 separate medical facilities have been documented by Physicians for Human Rights as of March 2021\, leaving only half of the country’s hospitals fully functional. \n\nEntire neighbourhoods and vital infrastructure across the country remain in ruins. Much of Syria’s rich cultural heritage has also been destroyed.\n\nJoin us for this fundraising afternoon to try authentic Syrian sweet treats and sit in conversation with local Syrian refugees who have made Northern Ireland their home.

We can come together as a church family to learn\, ask\, and grow. \n\nThis learning lab\, our connections and prayer ministry pastor Lauren will be walking us through an important question for our church family – how do we become a church that courageously prays for others? \n\nIt can be easy to rule ourselves out of being able to pray for others\, or we think others will do a better job of it than us. But this is not the case! God calls all of us to pray. He invites us into conversation with Himself and shows us time and time again the powerful effect of what happens when His people pray.\n \nBut how do we do this well? How do we tune into what He is saying? What do we pray? And how do we keep it up? \n\nJoin us for this interactive Learning Lab as we explore prayer. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Worship and Media Community Night!\n\nWith our Learning Lab on the Holy Spirit happening this Sunday\, we have decided to combine this with our Worship & Media Community Night. We are going to join together for dinner as a team at 5:30pm in the Venue this Sunday before the Learning Lab starts at 7PM. This will be instead of our event on Wednesday evening!\n \n\n\nWe feel it is really important that our whole worship and media team make an effort to be at this learning lab. Since our last Community Night\, there has been a shift in our worship\, with so much more freedom in the room when we worship together. That is the work of the Holy Spirit! We cannot wait to hear what Steve Nicholson has to share with all of us and see how it will encourage us as we continue to minister to our church family.\n \n\n\nIf you are able to join us for dinner beforehand\, please sign up so we know numbers for catering! DESCRIPTION:While we were preparing for our safeguarding training\, we realised this is something as much on God’s heart for our community as it is on ours. We’ve decided to lean into deeper learning and understanding of what it means to ‘safeguard’ from the heart of our Father. The best way we feel we can do this is through a Learning Lab.   \nAt Lagan Valley Vineyard\, we are committed to providing the safest environment for those in our community who need protected. This includes children\, teenagers\, vulnerable adults\, and domestic abuse survivors. We want to value them by promoting their welfare and protecting them from harm. \nWhether you serve on a team or would like to learn more about this Biblical principle of caring for the vulnerable\, we encourage you to come to this evening of learning and connection. DESCRIPTION:The Safe Place initiative is a simple way for any organisation to provide information and signposting to anyone affected by domestic abuse. \nSafe Place is a simple but very effective initiative that offers a diverse range of organisations\, including sole traders\, employers\, community groups\, schools and churches information on the wide range of services available to anyone affected by domestic violence or abuse. Any organisation can become a Safe Place.\nThe Awareness information is short and helpful and can be watched by webinar in your own home. \nBook HERE\nAs a Church\, LVV are a ‘Safe Place’ where anyone affected by domestic abuse can confidentially access information on the range of support services available to them.
